Participation in the “Sixth SUIJI Seminar in Gadjah Mada University (Indonesia)”

   Eight faculty and staff members and one student of Kochi University, including President Wakiguchi, Director Sakurai (Director of General Administration and International and Inter-Regional Exchanges), Dean Ogata of the Faculty of Agriculture and Chief Ikejima of the SUIJI Promotion Office, participated in the “Sixth SUIJI Seminar in Gadjah Mada University,” held at Gadjah Mada University in Indonesia from Saturday 24th through Monday 26th of September.
  The SUIJI Seminar is organized by members of the SUIJI Consortium in turn, and this sixth one was hosted by Gadjah Mada University as the head of the consortium and was attended by faculty, staff members and students of three Indonesian universities (Gadjah Mada University, Bogor Agricultural University and Hasanuddin University) and three universities in Shikoku (Ehime University, Kagawa University and Kochi University).
  In the SUIJI Seminar General Assembly on the 25th of September, presidents and other representatives of the six universities gave presentations on the efforts planned by their universities under the title of “Future Plans in the Areas of International Strategies and International Collaborations” and made proposals on what collaborative education should be provided through the SUIJI partnership in the future.
  Presentations were also given by students representing the six universities, who made presentations on their SUIJI Joint Degree Master Program (SUIJI-JDP-Ms) research projects and other experience-based presentations, such as those concerning Service Learning-related activities, etc. Representing Kochi University, Tomonori Park, a senior in the Faculty of Agriculture, delivered a presentation in English about his study abroad experiences and what he had learned from them.
  The seminar was preceded by a meeting of the SUIJI Promotion Offices of the six SUIJI member universities on the 23rd, the day before the opening of the seminar. An excursion also took place on the 26th.

 

  *SUIJI (Six University Initiative Japan Indonesia) is a consortium of six universities that was formed in 2011 by three universities in Indonesia (Gadjah Mada University, Bogor Agricultural University and Hasanuddin University) and three universities in Shikoku (Ehime University, Kagawa University and Kochi University) with the aim of promoting collaborative education and research concerning the development of agriculture in tropical regions.
