Research Field:Molecular Pharmacology

Research Content:My focus is to identify for marine natural products that address unmet medical needs. We perform several cell based screening assays and understand the molecular level of pharmacological effect.

Hopes:Stress response is the important factor for cancer and several chronic disease. Thus, we try to discover molecular mechanism of stress response and new therapeutic targets.

Research Content:Using Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) methodology, we analyze various kinds of molecules which are present in the ocean and comprehensively understand marine phenomena from a viewpoint of physical chemistry and analytical chemistry.

Hopes:We focus on development of NMR methodology suitable for marine sciences including solid-state NMR of quadrupole nuclei and rare-earth elements.

Research Content:Microbial resources in marine environments including deep sea environments are utilized in this study.

The microbes include bacteria, archaea and microalgae. These microbes' ecology, phylogeny and metabology will also be studied.

Research Content:I develop the drug from marine bacteria and the functional artificial nucleic acid.

Hopes:PPT was designed as a artificial nucleobase it forms pairs with all the natural nucleobases through not only the π–π stacking interactions but also the hydrogen-bond interactions that are observed in natural base pairs.
