Syllabus for Comprehensive Japanese Course, First Semester 2019 (Asakura Campus)

I. Outline

The course is for any international student registered at Asakura campus of Kochi University. Students are required to take a placement test before the course starts in the second week of April. Basic Japanese is for students who have never learnet Japanese. Elementary-Intermediate Japanese Conversation I, Elementary-Intermediate Japanese Structure, Intermediate Composition, Intermediate Kanji and Vocabulary, Intermediate Conversation I, Intermediate Listening Comprehension I and Kochi Culture and Sociiety are for intermediate class students who have learnt Japanese. Communication Japanese I is for students in upper intermediate class, and Business Japanese and Academic Writing are for students with advanced skills.

 

Ⅱ. Course Levels

An introductory level course is for students who learn Japanese for the first time. It is expected that students will learn essential knowledge for studying Japanese and essential skills for communication in daily life. Students at an introductory level course should be able to pass the level N5 of the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test. An intermediate-level course is for students who have completed the elementary course.  Students at an intermediate-level course should be able to pass the level N2 of the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test. Students at an upper-intermediate class are required to pass the N2 of the Japanese-Language Proficiency, and an advanced course is for students who have passed or are likely to pass the level N1 of the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test.
