Syllabus for Comprehensive Japanese Course, Second Semester 2018 (Asakura Campus)

I. Outline

The course is for any international student registered at Kochi University’s Asakura campus. Students are required to take a placement test before the course starts in the first week of October. Basic Japanese is offered students who have never learned Japanese. Elementary-Intermediate Japanese Grammar, Intermediate Japanese Conversation II, Intermediate Japanese Listening Comprehension II, Intermediate Japanese Reading Comprehension, Intermediate Japanese Conversation II, and Intermediate Kanji & Vocabulary II are offered intermediate students. Communication Japanese II is available for intermediate and advanced students.

 

Ⅱ. Course Levels

Introductory level course is for students who learn Japanese for the first time. It is expected that students will acquire basic knowledge for Japanese study and minimal communication skill in daily life. This level students should be able to level N5 of the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test. The intermediate-level course is for students who have finished the elementary course. It is expected that students will achieve an upper-elementary to lower-intermediate level of Japanese in all four skills. At this level students should be able to pass level N2 of the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test. The intermediate and advanced course is for students who have passed or are likely to pass the Japanese Language Aptitude Test N2. It is expected that students will achieve an advanced level of Japanese in all four skills as well as pass level N1 of the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test.
