 Dr. Masashi Tsuda joined the Center as a Professor.

 The Center hosted a workshop entitled ‘International Workshop on Paleo,

 The Center presented an exhibition concerning the Kuroshio Current
 at the National Science Museum in Tokyo.

 A workshop on joint-use research outcomes in 2006 is held in Kochi.

 The Annual Meeting of the Geological Society of Japan is held in Kochi.
 During the meeting, staff of the Center convened and participated in a symposium entitled
 “Kuroshio system variability and East Asian climate change - Present, Past and Future-“

●September 13, 2006.
 The KCC (Kochi Core Center) official website was set up.

●September 2-4, 2006.
 The Center hosted Short Course No.6 of ISC2006 (International Sedimentological Congress 2006):
 ‘Marine core descriptions and physical property measurements’.

●August 27 – September 1, 2006.
 The Center presented an exhibition jointly with JAMSTEC during ISC2006
 (International Sedimentological Congress 2006).

●August 19–20, 2006.
 The Center jointly hosted ‘Summer Science Camp 2006’ for high school students.

●July 21, 2006.
 Special seminar by Prof. Tamaki Ura of University of Tokyo.

●July 1, 2006.
 Dr. Keiji Horikawa joined the Center as a Postdoctoral Fellow.

●June 30, 2006.
 Dr. Tomohiro Toki left the Center, moving to University of the Ryukyus.

●June 26, 2006.
 The Center is jointly managed by Kochi University and the Kochi Institute for Core Sample Research,
 JAMSTEC. Both institutions agree on a common name (nickname), the ‘Kochi Core Center (KCC)’
  to be adopted for the facility.

●June 5–7, 2006.
 The Center co-hosted an international workshop entitled
 ‘Climate-Tectonic Drilling Studies in Southeast Asia’.

●May 13–18, 2006.
 The Center presented a joint exhibition with JAMSTEC
 during the Japan Geoscience Union Meeting 2006.

●April 3, 2006.
 Dr. Kei Okamura joined the Center as an Associate Professor, and Dr. Takuya Sagawa
 and Dr. Tomohiro Toki joined the Center as Postdoctoral Fellows. Dr. Minoru Ikehara was promoted
 to Associate Professor.
