EDUCATION PROGRAMS
Education
Preliminary Japanese language intensive program
The center
offers a 6-month preliminary Japanese language training course
mainly for postgraduate international research students sponsored by
the Japanese government, with the goal of developoing their language
skills in order to pursue postgraduate studies in Japan.
Japan-Korea joint exchange program for undergraduates in science, engineering and agriculture studies(intensive)
For students preparing to enter the college through this program, preparatory classes in Japanese and other specialized subjects are offered.
Extra-curricular Japanese language program
For all
international students at Kochi University, there are non-credit
Japanese classes available at three campuses- Asakura, Monobe and
Oko. All international students are eligible to take these classes
according to their needs
“Career Gateway to Asia” Japanese Language Education
This program aims to train students to be able to handle smooth
communication and advanced discussion in the business scene, and it
is especially designed for students who have a high level of ability
and a strong desire to find employment in Japanese companies.
CROSS-CULTURAL EXCHANGE
Field trip
The Center plans and hosts various programs to promote
understanding and friendship among international and Japanese
students. It also offers a wide range of services to assist
international students in experiencing the full benefit of campus
life. the services include an orientation course for newcomers, and
Japanese-student tutors who assist international students during
their first year at Kochi University in studying Japanese and
familiarizing themselves with campus life.
Field trip
Every year the Center organizes trips to local facilities, institutions and places of cultural and historical interest for international students.
Interaction with local community
The Center coorinates a wide range of programs and events(which
international students can actively participate in) with local
organizations, volunteer groups and local people to promote
understanding and exchange of ideas.
Academic/Students exchange agreement
In 1980, Kochi University concluded an academic-exchange agreement with the University of Queensland in Australia. Since then, over 36 agreements have been made with foreign universities, and student/research exchanges with these universities and ours have steadily been increasing.

advisory services for international students concerning problems in
their studies and daily life.

For the students who wish to study abroad, the Center offers useful information, in addition to counseling and advisory services.
RESEARCH AND IMPROVEMENT OF
TEACHING MATERIALS WORKSHOP
The Center provides workshops focused on improving teaching materials, as well as research methods, in order to maintain the highest quality of instruction.
