1. From Bench to Clinic: Discovery of SOCS and Its Clinical Application to Cancer Therapy

We generated an adenovirus vector containing SOCS3 gene (AdSOCS3) and showed that AdSOCS3 exhibits strong anti-tumor effect on mouse model of cancers including malignant mesothelioma (Iwahori et al., Int J Cancer, 2013) . We have finished pre-clinical study of AdSOCS3 and plan to start a clinical trial of AdSOCS3 in malignant mesothelioma. Our studies on mouse models indicate that SOCS gene therapy may be applicable to other cancers such melanoma, esophageal cancers and lung cancers.
