SST 24.0, SSS 33.5
Coronosphaera sp. i (c.a. 190 cells/litre)
E. huxleyi (c.a. 1900 cells/litre)
G. oceanica (c.a. 770 cells/litre)
Syracosphaera sp. (c.a. 380 cells/litre)
Algirosphaera oryza rare
Sea surface temperature decreased and coccolithophores are getting increase. One of the autumn species Algirosphaera oryza occured very rarely. Autumn is near.

11th September 2013
SST 27.5, SSS 32
E. huxleyi (c.a. 190 cells/litre)
Sea surface temperature slightly decreased in compare to August, but coccolithophores are still rare.
I found lovely striped fish, Abudefduf vaigiensis

21st August, 2013
SST 30.5, SSS 32
E. huxleyi (c.a. 190 cells/litre)
G. oceanica (c.a. 190 cells/litre)
Sea water was very clear and very rare in coccolithophroes

11th July 2013
SST26.5CSSS 33
E. huxleyi (c.a. 1300 cells/litre)
Rainy season was over, and sea water is getting increase rapidly. We can see beautiful blue alga (Champia parvula?) and tiny prety fishes, may be member of Chromis, in the port

24th June 2013
SST22, SSS35
E. huxleyi (23000 cells/litre), G. ericsonii (5200 cells/litre), B. bigelowii (rare)

17th June 2013
collected a lot of B. bigeloii from offshore Tomari

14th June 2013
SST23.5, SSS35
E. huxleyi (8000 cells/litre), G. oceanica (970 cells/litre)
Sea water had many dinoflagellate and diatoms

11th June 2013
SST20.5, SSS35
E. huxleyi 1550 cells/litre

9th June 2013
SST20, SSS34.5

Offshore sampling with people from Tsukuba

26th May 2013
SST19, SSS34

12th May 2013
SST 16.5C, SSS 34.5
Sea water of Tomari port look very clean but it was barren in coccolithophrores. In the last four years coccolithophroes was almost barren in this area from late April through early June, and had B. bigelowii bloom in early-mid June. I believe now we are in the silence before B. bigelowii storm.

5th May 2013
SST unknown, SSS 34.5
Tanaka san went for fishing with his boat and gave me clean sea water from offshore Tomari. Offshore sea water contained rare E. huxleyi (<200 cells/L) and G. ericsonii (<200 cells/L), unusually low abundance for offshore water.
29th April 2013
SST 16C, SSS 34
Red tide occurred along the coast of Yurihama. Red tide was not occurred in the Tomari port, but no coccolithophores were found from the sea water of Tomari port today.

6th April 2013
SST12.5, SSS35
G. oceanica (380 cells/L)
23rd March 2013
SST12, SSS35
G. oceanica (4500 cells/L) E. huxleyi (750 cells/L)
9th March 2013
SST 12, SSS 35.
Feel Spring in growth of brown algae. Collected some edible brown algae Sargassum fusiforme after sea water sampling. It was delicious!
G. oceanica (2000 cells/L) E. huxleyi (500 cells/L)

27th February 2013
SST 11.5, SSS 35.
Sea water was still cold but Gephyrocapsa oceanica looks happy in the cold water.
lovely baby Eisenia bicyclis (brown algae)B
G. oceanica (2500 cells/L) E. huxleyi (250 cells/L)

30th January 2013
SST10.5, SSS 34.5
It was good that sea coast don't have snow, Misasa had snow today.
E. huxleyi (very rare)
14th December 2012
