X-ray CT & MSCL Laboratory

@To understand the distinctive features of marine cores we need to analyze the physical properties of sediments using precision instruments, such as the medical X-ray CT scanner, five types of Multi-Sensor Core Logger (MSCL), and the XRF-core logger.

@The CT scanner can be used to observe the internal structure of the core. The MSCLs are automated logging systems for measuring the physical properties of marine cores, including gamma-ray attenuation density, P-wave velocity, magnetic susceptibility, electrical resistivity, natural gamma-ray radiation, and color spectrometry. The XRF core logger can quickly reveal the approximate elemental distribution in the sediments.
