X-ray CT & MSCL Laboratory
To understand the distinctive features of marine cores we need to analyze the physical properties of sediments using precision instruments, such as the medical X-ray CT scanner, five types of Multi-Sensor Core Logger (MSCL), and the XRF-core logger.

The CT scanner can be used to observe the internal structure of the core. The MSCLs are automated logging systems for measuring the physical properties of marine cores, including gamma-ray attenuation density, P-wave velocity, magnetic susceptibility, electrical resistivity, natural gamma-ray radiation, and color spectrometry. The XRF core logger can quickly reveal the approximate elemental distribution in the sediments.
