The organizing committee of PW2009 are proposing to compile a Special Issue of research papers on the topic that were covered by PW2009, to be published in the "Island Arc".

"Island Arc" is published by on behalf of the Geological Society of Japan in association with the Japan Association for Quaternary Research, Japan Association of Mineralogical Sciences, Palaeontological Society of Japan and the Society of Resource Geology. Its Impact factor was 0.762 in 2007, and increased to 0.837 in 2007.

Submissions to this special issue are invited from all attendants of the PW2009, but also from other researchers wishing to contribute to this combined effort. Our aim is to compile a well balanced volume, that is representative for the papers that were presented at PW2009 in width and depth. The theme of the special issue will be strongly linked to the PW2009 theme. Submissions do not have to be strictly on the content of a presentation given at the PW2009 symposium.

Manuscript submission deadline:

Manuscripts should be prepared to be submitted by August 31st, 2009 (you have >5 months). Submission and review of the manuscripts will be handled through the Journal's website. All submissions will undergo the Island Arc's peer review system and submissions for the special issue will be selected based on quality of the paper and significance of the research. Anticipated date of publication will be Fall 2010.

Tentative title deadline:

We have already received a number of expressions of interest to contribute to this special issue and would now ask all those who are interested in contributing to send us a (tentative) title and authors (mark corresponding author) and if possible a short (<100 words) summary of the intended contribution by March 31, 2009.
