My research focuses on using sediment cores collected from ocean bottoms and on land to reconstruct the processes and mechanism of past changes in Earth's climate, oceans, and environment. My specialty is the application of stable isotopes (hydrogen, carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen) and biomarkers (alkenone, alkane, sterol, etc.) to study geologic problems including paleoclimatology, paleoceanography, geochemical cycling, and stratigraphy. Our stable isotope and organic geochemical laboratories are well equipped to make most isotopic measurements.
