The fourth crisis management headquarters meeting conducted a disaster tabletop exercise.

The university has established a "Crisis Management Headquarters" composed of the President, Board of Trustees members, Vice Board members, and faculty from the Disaster Prevention Promotion Center. Recently, the headquarters conducted a tabletop disaster drill simulating a Nankai Trough earthquake for its members.
In addition to the members of the Crisis Management Headquarters, deans and other officials from the Monobe Campus, home to the Faculty of Agriculture, Forestry and Marine Sciences, and the Okayama-Toyo Campus, home to the Faculty of Medicine, participated online.
The purpose of this exercise was to foster the necessary judgment skills and to understand the need for flexible decision-making and response in the event of a Nankai Trough earthquake. This marks the second time the exercise has been held, following last year’s session.
During the exercise, the facilitator presented various tasks anticipated from the immediate aftermath of the earthquake through the first 24 hours. Participants discussed the division of roles among the President and Board members, as well as the delegation of decision-making authority, and deliberated on and decided specific response measures for each task.
Additionally, they attempted to verify the potential outcomes of the decided response measures using AI.
During the post-training review, participants exchanged views on challenges related to advance preparation and external collaboration, and confirmed their commitment to addressing these issues moving forward.
