Tosa Akaushi is a brand of beef that Kochi takes great pride in, and its numbers are scarce nationwide. It is known for being healthy yet packed with rich, savory flavor in its lean meat, making it exceptionally delicious.
One of the unique charms of Kochi University is the opportunity to see these precious cattle up close as they roam freely on the campus ranch.

The source of student energy!
Number of cafeteria menu items: 70The diverse selection of campus cafeterias is what fuels the energy of Kochi University students. With a buffet-style setup that lets you mix and match dishes to suit your mood, you’ll never get bored even if you visit every day.
Among the offerings, the “Tori Pon Fried Chicken”—juicy yet light—is a particular favorite. It’s a staple energy-boosting meal for students that satisfies both body and soul. Eat well and study hard—the campus cafeterias are there to support that kind of student life.

Total number of palm trees on campus: 90
This scenery can truly be called the "symbol of tropical Tosa," with palm trees growing on every campus.
The main street of the Asakura Campus is particularly impressive. Palm trees over 20 meters tall—as high as a six-story building—line the street, and their silhouettes stretching up toward the blue sky are one of the unique features of Kochi University that can only be seen here. Here, you’ll find an environment where you can study while immersed in a tropical atmosphere.

Yosakoi Club
Number of members: 466Kochi University is home to no fewer than five Yosakoi clubs, with a combined membership of 466—a testament to their overwhelming popularity.
With a variety of teams, each boasting its own unique atmosphere and style, it’s easy for both beginners and experienced dancers to find a club that suits them—that’s part of the appeal.
And best of all, you can actually compete in the authentic “Yosakoi Festival” right here in Kochi. The excitement and sense of unity you feel dancing with your teammates, along with the cheers echoing through the streets, make for an unforgettable experience.
