Purpose and Relationship to National Policies
The Mission of Kochi University
Kochi University, a National University Corporation, was established to serve as a center of scholarship, imparting knowledge widely while conducting in-depth teaching and research in the arts and sciences, with the aim of fostering intellectual, moral, and practical abilities.
Scope of Work
- To establish and operate Kochi University pursuant to the provisions of Article 4, Paragraph 2 of the Act on National University Corporations (Act No. 112 of 2003; hereinafter referred to as the “Corporations Act”).
- To provide students with counseling and other support regarding their academic studies, career choices, physical and mental health, and other matters.
- To conduct research commissioned by or in collaboration with entities other than the Corporation, and to engage in other educational and research activities in partnership with such entities.
- Offering open courses and other learning opportunities to individuals other than students.
- To disseminate the results of research conducted at Kochi University and to promote such activities.
- To invest in entities that implement projects designed to promote the utilization of research outcomes in technology at Kochi University, as specified in the Enforcement Order of the National University Corporation Act (Cabinet Order No. 478 of 2003).
- To perform duties incidental to the duties listed in the preceding items.
Relationship with Government Policies
In order to respond to public expectations regarding university education and research, and to implement national policies aimed at raising the standards of higher education and academic research in Japan and promoting their balanced development, we formulate medium-term plans based on the medium-term goals established by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and carry out our operations accordingly.
