Tuition Waiver and Deferral Program for Graduate Students and Self-Supporting International Students
If you fall under the categories listed below as “Eligible for Exemption,” and your application is approved, you may be exempted from paying all or half of the tuition fees for the relevant term. There is also a deferral system available; however, since you must choose between exemption and deferral at the time of application, you cannot apply for deferral after the exemption selection results have been announced.
1. Eligible Individuals for Exemption
Eligibility for tuition exemption applies to individuals who meet any of the following criteria (in principle, regular students within the standard period of study) . However, self-funded international undergraduate students who enrolled in or after the 2021 academic year are excluded from this program.
1. Individuals who are unable to pay tuition fees due to financial hardship and are recognized as academically outstanding.
2. Individuals who are recognized as having significant difficulty paying tuition fees due to special circumstances.
(1) Cases where, within six months prior to the payment deadline for each tuition installment (or within one year prior to enrollment for new students regarding the installment corresponding to the term in which they enrolled), the person primarily responsible for the student’s educational expenses (hereinafter referred to as the “financial supporter”) has died, or the student or the financial supporter has suffered damage from natural disasters such as floods or storms.
(2) Cases equivalent to the preceding item where the President deems there to be justifiable grounds.
2. Selection Process for Exemptions
Selection is based on academic and financial criteria, and decisions are made within the limits of the budget.
3. Application Period
First Semester: Current Students: Late January to late March; New Students: Until early April
Second Semester: Current Students: Late July to late September

5. Submission Method
The applicant must bring the documents in person to the designated office or mail them. If submitting by mail, please use a service that allows you to track the delivery, such as registered mail.
6. Timing of Decisions on Exemptions and Deferrals of Collection, and Methods of Notification
1. Decision Dates: First Semester: Mid-July to Late July (tentative); Second Semester: Late December to Mid-January (tentative)
2. Notification Method: Notifications will be posted in the "Announcements" section of the Academic Information System (KULAS).
7. Payment Methods for Students Whose Applications Have Been Denied
If you have been granted a partial exemption or your application has been denied,Within 21 days from the date of the decision noticeYou must pay the required amount. Please confirm the payment method and promptly pay any tuition fees that have not been waived or deferred.
