Tuition Waivers and Deferral Programs for Undergraduate Students* (International students are not eligible)
To all undergraduate students who enrolled in or after the 2020 academic year (excluding international students)
For undergraduate students who enrolled in or after the 2020 academic year (excluding international students), the tuition and admission fee reduction program under the New System for Support of Higher Education (hereinafter referred to as the “New System”) will apply. To all undergraduate students who enrolled prior to the 2019 (Reiwa 1) academic year (excluding international students)
For undergraduate students who enrolled prior to the 2019 academic year (excluding international students), if they were eligible for the tuition exemption program based on financial need that was in effect through the 2019 academic year ,and if they are ineligible for supportunderthenewsystem or if the exemption amount under the new system is reduced compared to the results of the previous tuition exemption program, a transitional measure will be implemented to exempt the difference between the new and previous exemption amounts, within the limits of the budget.
*Please note that eligibility will be assessed based on the previous financial and academic criteria within the available budget; therefore ,wecannotguarantee thatstudentswho previously received a fulltuitionwaiver will automatically receive one again. Even if you meet the eligibility criteria, your application may be denied due to budget constraints .
*Students who may be eligible for tuition waivers under the new system will not be considered for tuition waivers under the transitional measures unless they apply under the new system. You must first complete the procedures under the new system before applying for the previous tuition waiver under the transitional measures.
Please note that students who have not yet completed the procedures for the new system (i.e., those who have not applied for the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) grant-in-aid) should apply for the JASSO grant-in-aid enrollment selection held in April or September.
