The 13th Mental Health Lecture in Asakura: "Preparing for a Major Earthquake: Insights from the Front Lines in the Tohoku Disaster Area"
Date:
Every year, Health Service Center hosts a lecture series to help deepen understanding of mental health. This year, we have organized a lecture on the theme of “Disasters and Mental Health.”
It has been nearly three years since the Great East Japan Earthquake caused such devastating damage. We do not know when the Nankai Trough earthquake might strike Kochi Prefecture. While it goes without saying that we hope no major disaster occurs, we believe it is also important to face reality and be prepared.
Therefore, for this event, we have invited Professor Masaharu Maeda, Chair of the Department of Disaster Mental Health at Medical School and an authority on disaster trauma, to speak. We hope this lecture, based on his valuable experiences in Tohoku, will provide an opportunity for us to consider what we should do moving forward and how we should respond should a major disaster occur.
