International Symposium: "Toward a Society of Coexistence Where Everyone Feels Secure"

We are hosting an international symposium titled “Toward a Society of Mutual Support Where Everyone Can Feel Secure,” featuring nursing researchers and leaders of industry-academia-government collaboration initiatives from Sweden and the Netherlands—two countries renowned for their welfare states.
Kochi Prefecture is at the forefront of Japan’s declining birthrate and aging population, and while various initiatives are underway “aiming to create a society where everyone can live in harmony with peace of mind,” we strongly encourage you to refer to the reports by researchers from Northern Europe.
The presenter Nursing Course at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden (a partner institution of our university). She holds qualifications as a registered nurse and a drama teacher, and conducts research on the effectiveness of drama by integrating the fields of medicine, nursing, and education. This is her third visit to Japan.
The other presenter, Mr. Joost Degener, is the Head of the Healthy Aging Program at Hanze University in Groningen, the Netherlands. As the leader of an industry-academia-government collaboration initiative, he is actively engaged in a wide range of international activities. This is his first visit to Japan.
Participation is free, and no advance registration is required.
The presentation will be conducted in English, but interpretation will be provided. We invite anyone interested in social welfare, as well as those hoping to study abroad in English-speaking countries, to join us. Please feel free to bring friends and family—we look forward to seeing many of you there.
Please note that this symposium is being held with funding from the Kochi University Internationalization Strategy Grant for Fiscal Year 2013, titled “Formation of a Nordic Education Research Network Based on International Comparative Research and Fieldwork” (Principal Investigator: Fumika Nishijima, Faculty ).
