On the "Correctness" of Japanese Pronunciation: What Are Japanese Learners Listening For?
Date:
The Center for International Collaboration is pleased to invite Professor Yasuo Iwai, Director of the Center for Japanese Language and Culture Education at Osaka University, to deliver a lecture and lead a workshop titled “On the ‘Correctness’ of Japanese Pronunciation: What Do Japanese Language Learners Hear?”
We use Japanese every day without giving it a second thought, but are we really pronouncing it correctly? We might be pronouncing words incorrectly without even realizing it.
In this lecture and workshop, we will use various words as examples and, together with an expert instructor, explore how they are pronounced and how to interpret those pronunciations.
Participation is free of charge. Those wishing to attend should contact the International Exchange Division via fax or email, clearly stating : (1) your name, (2) your address, affiliation, and job title, and (3) your contact information.
Please note that while you can attend the lecture on the day of the event, those wishing to participate in the workshop must register by Monday, June 16.
We look forward to seeing many of you there.
