Announcement of the 14th Mental Health Lecture in Asakura: "Understanding and Supporting People Who Intentionally Harm Their Own Health"

Date:

In Japan, approximately 30,000 people take their own lives each year. Among those aged 15 to 29, suicide is the second leading cause of death. It has also been noted that for every adult suicide, there are more than 20 suicide attempts. Furthermore, it is pointed out that it is often difficult to distinguish between self-harm with suicidal intent and self-harm without such intent. While self-harm does not necessarily lead directly to suicide, we believe it is important to deepen our understanding of these individuals.
In light of this situation, Health Service Center is pleased to host a lecture by Dr. Toshihiko Matsumoto, Deputy Director of the Comprehensive Suicide Prevention Center and Head of the Clinical Treatment Development Laboratory at the Department of Drug Dependence Research, National Center of Neurology and Psychiatry (NCNP), a leading authority on suicide prevention in Japan.
We have organized this event in the hope that by hearing about his valuable clinical experience, we can collectively reflect on the difficulties faced by those who intentionally harm their own health, gain insights into how to support them, and use this knowledge to inform our future practice.
Please refer to the PDF below for further details.

We look forward to seeing many of you there.
