2015 Bonito Seminar in Kochi: Exploring Bonito and Bonito Flakes from a Functional Food Perspective

Date:

The "Japan Bonito Society," operated through a partnership between Kochi University and Kuroshio Town, will host the "2015 Bonito Seminar in Kochi" as a forum for presenting various surveys and research on bonito.

Statistics show that the consumption of bonito among residents of Kochi Prefecture is approximately five times the national average. While bonito is such an important food resource for Kochi, its functional properties are rarely discussed. In this seminar, we will present on the lesser-known functional properties of skipjack tuna. We will also tie this in with the Consumer Affairs Agency’s “New Food Functional Claims System,” which has been a hot topic recently, to create a forum for discussion with local residents aimed at generating further value from the skipjack tuna beloved by the people of Kochi.

This seminar is open to everyone, including students and the general public. (Free admission; no advance registration required)

We look forward to seeing many of you there.
