Announcement of the 15th Mental Health Lecture in Asakura: "Today’s Youth: Dependence on Approval and an Overemphasis on Communication"
Date:
We are pleased to announce that we will be hosting a lecture by Professor Tamaki Saito of the Department of Social Psychiatry, Graduate School Comprehensive Human Sciences, Graduate School, author of the best-selling book *Social Withdrawal*.
Professor Saito has been conducting research on the treatment of issues frequently encountered in clinical practice with adolescents—including not only “social withdrawal” but also school refusal, abuse, bullying, self-harm, and domestic violence—and has authored numerous books on these topics. For this event, we have invited him to speak specifically about the anxiety modern youth feel regarding a lack of acceptance and their excessive emphasis on communication.
We believe that deepening our understanding of today’s youth will not only help inform our future practice but also lead to greater self-understanding.
We look forward to the participation of many students, faculty and staff, and members of the local community.
