Kuroshio Science ProgramGraduate School of Integrated Arts and SciencesKuroshio Science Program, Graduate School, Graduate School that transcends the traditional boundaries between the humanities and sciences. Under the keyword “Kuroshio Zone,” faculty members from various specialized fields—including “resources,” “environment,” and “health and medical sciences”—have collaborated to advance this integrated approach.
Since 2007, we have held an annual international conference to promote the sharing of research and educational information and joint research, led by Kochi University, National Sun Yat-sen University in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, and Bicol University in Legazpi City and Tabaco City, Philippines, and including Tanjung Pura University in Pontianak, Indonesia, and Universiti Sarawak in Kuching, Malaysia.
The 9th International Symposium on Kuroshio Region Science, co-hosted by National Sun Yat-sen University and National Dong Hwa University/National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium, is planning to establish a joint educational platform for Japan, Taiwan, and the Philippines.The symposium will be held at the College of Marine Science at National Sun Yat-sen University. Following field visits to actual marine conservation sites in Kaohsiung City and Pingtung County, a discussion Graduate School will be held at the National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium and the Institute of Marine Biology at National Dong Hwa University.
