The 10th International Symposium on Kuroshio Circle Science

 Since 2004, Kuroshio Science ProgramGraduate School of Integrated Arts and SciencesKuroshio Science ProgramGraduate School, Graduate School transcends the traditional boundaries between the humanities and sciences. Under the keyword “Kuroshio Zone,” faculty members from various specialized fields—including “resources,” “environment,” and “health and medical sciences”—have collaborated to advance this integrated approach.

 Since 2007, we have been holding an annual international conference to promote the sharing of research and educational information and joint research, primarily involving Kochi University, National Sun Yat-sen University (Taiwan), and Bicol University (Philippines), as well as Tanjung Pura University (Indonesia) and Universiti Sarawak (Malaysia).

 The 10th International Symposium on Kuroshio Region Science will be held in Tabac City, Albay Province, Philippines, under the theme “Integrated Management of Coastal Resources through Marine Protected Areas,” co-hosted by Bicol University.For this event, we plan to hold several lectures and presentations on this theme during the symposium. On the final day, we will conduct fieldwork on San Miguel Island, which is home to a marine protected area, followed by a discussion session Graduate School.

 In addition, our partner schools in Japan, Taiwan, and the Philippines will jointly carry out a cross-border education initiative, following up on last year’s project in Taiwan.
