1st Symposium on Japanese Brown Cattle: Connecting Research on Japanese Brown Cattle Through Networking
Date:
Led by the Faculty of Agriculture, Forestry and Marine Sciences at Kochi University, a network has been established to promote effective and efficient technological development related to the Japanese Brown Cattle breed (commonly known as "Akaushi") under the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries' "Strategic Technology Development Framework Project."
We will advance our research on Akaushi cattle in collaboration with organizations nationwide, including not only those within our prefecture but also Kumamoto Prefecture—which also raises a large number of Akaushi cattle—the Miyagi Prefectural Livestock Experiment Station, which is developing technologies for efficient cattle breeding, and Meijo University (Aichi Prefecture), which is researching the application of nanotechnology and robotics in livestock production.
To mark this occasion, we will hold the first symposium aimed at those interested in Akaushi cattle, with the goal of making Akaushi research more accessible to the public.
*Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries “Strategic Technology Development Framework Initiative”: An initiative aimed at establishing a strategic technology development framework that brings together universities, research institutions, companies, government agencies, and—for the first time—farmers, foresters, and fishermen. By pooling information and research resources, the initiative seeks to promote synergistic and rapid technology development and the practical implementation of its results in society.
