Public Symposium at the 41st Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Phycology: "Algae of Kochi and Shikoku"

 At the 41st Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Phycology, to be held in Kochi Prefecture for the first time in 22 years (Thursday, March 23–Sunday, March 26), we will host a public symposium titled “Algae of Kochi and Shikoku.”

 Mr. Shingo Kobayashi of the Ehime Prefectural Museum of Science will introduce the museum’s initiatives to promote research and public awareness of freshwater algae. Additionally, Mr. Yukiki Science Research Center will discuss long-term changes in algal beds based on surveys across Kochi Prefecture, as well as measures to combat the decline of coastal algal beds in the prefecture. Mr. Masanori Hiraoka will speak about the current status and production and utilization of Aonori (green laver) in Shikoku and other countries, as well as recent trends in natural populations.

 The general public is welcome to attend. We look forward to seeing many of you there.
