Inspiration & Excitement in Science: Welcome to the University Lab! KAKENHI: "Taking on the Challenge of Distinguishing Optical Isomers!—Let’s Identify Molecules Using State-of-the-Art Equipment, Not Just Our Eyes and Noses"
Date:
The Faculty of Science and Engineering at Kochi University will host the 2017 "Inspiration & Excitement in Science: Welcome to the University Lab" event—a KAKENHI-funded program titled "Taking on the Challenge of Identifying Optical Isomers! Let’s Distinguish Molecules Using the Latest Equipment, Not Just Our Eyes and Noses."
This program aims to share and disseminate research findings obtained through the Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology / Japan Society for the Promotion of Science) with the broader community. Through experiments and lectures conducted in university laboratories—which are not typically open to the public—as well as discussions with undergraduate and graduate students, participants will have the opportunity to experience cutting-edge research and discover the fascination of science.
We are looking for high school students interested in participating! The experiment is titled “Investigating Optically Active Substances Using Menthol, Limonene, and Metal Complexes.” For details, please refer to the file below and our website.
