Joint Public Symposium by Science Research Center and the National Institute of Polar Research: “Antarctica: Exploring the Continent, Ocean, and Ice Sheet”

As part of activities under the cooperation agreement Science Research Center the National Institute of Polar Research (signed in April 2016), we are pleased to announce the following joint public symposium. We have invited experts from the National Institute of Polar Research with extensive experience in fieldwork in Antarctica to present on the research methods and findings regarding the Antarctic continent, ice sheets, and oceans obtained through Antarctic observation projects. Additionally, we will report on the overview of the Southern Ocean survey conducted aboard the Hakuho Maru, led by Kochi University.We are also planning an exhibition featuring iceberg ice, equipment used by Antarctic observation teams, sediments from the Southern Ocean, and vivid photographs from fieldwork. We hope you will join us. The event is open to the public, and we welcome participation from university students as well as middle and high school students.
