Lectures and Workshops Hosted by the Center for International Collaboration in Fiscal Year 2018

As part of the projects implemented by the Center for International Collaboration in fiscal year 2018, we will hold a lecture and workshop as described below.
We are pleased to welcome Professor Shinichiro Ishikawa of Kobe University as the guest speaker for this lecture. Under the title “New Perspectives on Japanese Language and Japanese Language Education Research: Grounded in Linguistic Facts Derived from Corpora,” he will present the true nature of the Japanese language as revealed by Japanese language corpora and the true nature of Japanese language learners as revealed by learner corpora. The session will also feature a discussion on evidence-based approaches to advancing research in Japanese language and Japanese language education.In addition, the workshop will be held in a computer lab and will feature an introductory lecture for beginners on the basics of statistical processing necessary for corpus research.
Both the lecture and the workshop are free of charge.
