Center for Disaster Prevention Promotion: “Kochi University Contributes: Disaster Prevention Initiatives in Kochi Prefecture”
Date:
While Kochi Prefecture boasts a beautiful natural environment, it also faces risks from a variety of natural disasters, including earthquakes along the Nankai Trough, typhoons, floods, and landslides. In fact, the prefecture has suffered significant damage, particularly from wind and water-related disasters. Against this backdrop, Kochi University is expected to contribute to regional disaster prevention; however, as Center for Disaster Prevention Promotion was established only two years ago, its activities are not yet widely known among the prefecture’s residents. To address these issues, we are holding a symposium with the aim of widely introducing the initiatives and research findings Center for Disaster Prevention Promotion to the residents of Kochi Prefecture and facilitating information sharing. Additionally, we will exchange information and opinions with representatives from local government disaster prevention departments to explore future directions for Kochi University’s contributions to disaster prevention in Kochi Prefecture.
