Public Symposium on the Kochi University Research Center: "Establishing Innovative Water and Biomass Recycling Systems"

Date:

The "Establishment of an Innovative Water and Biomass Recycling System" project is being implemented as a "Research Hub Project (Phase III)" aimed at developing Kochi University into a research hub for "innovative water and biomass recycling systems" through interdisciplinary and focused research.Specifically, the project targets various local communities—including urban, rural, and coastal areas—spanning from Japan (with a focus on the southern region of Tosa) to developing countries in Asia. It aims to elucidate material cycles, such as those involving water and biomass, within the context of the relationship between human society and the natural environment, and to develop various environmental conservation and water management technologies necessary to achieve harmony between the environment and humanity.
We are pleased to announce a symposium organized by Subgroup 2 (Urban Areas: Creation of Sustainable Regions Centered on Sewage Systems) of the Kochi University Research Hub “Establishment of Innovative Water and Biomass Circulation Systems.” Subgroup 2 is engaged in research across a wide range of fields, including water purification in urban areas, the recycling of waste biomass generated in urban areas, and disaster prevention through water management.
The theme of this symposium is “Bringing the SDGs to Life: A Perspective from Water and Biomass.” The SDGs are international goals comprising 17 targets adopted at the United Nations Summit to achieve a sustainable world. With the aim of achieving these goals, we have selected presentation topics that focus on water and biomass. We look forward to discussing the future direction for realizing the SDGs together with all participants.
