12th Work-Life Balance Seminar: Dementia Support Volunteer Training Course
Date:
The Office for the Promotion of Gender Equality at Kochi University will host the 12th Work-Life Balance Seminar: Dementia Supporter Training Course.
Dementia is a brain disorder that can affect anyone; it is estimated that about 10% of people aged 65 and older have dementia. The Dementia Supporter Program was introduced by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare in fiscal year 2004. Dementia supporters are advocates who have a proper understanding of dementia and who warmly watch over and support people with dementia and their families.
In this course, you will learn what dementia is, how to interact with people living with dementia, and what you can do as a supporter. This will enable you to interact appropriately with people living with dementia in your community and when students take on roles in customer service or sales.
If you would like to attend, please email the Office for the Promotion of Gender Equality, including your name and affiliation (external participants may simply indicate "General"). If there is still space available, walk-ins are welcome on the day of the event.
