Notice Regarding the Cancellation of the FY2019 COC+ National Symposium as Part of the National Networking Project

 In light of the government’s announcement of its basic policy and the emergence of COVID-19 cases within Shikoku, we have held careful discussions as a university; however, regarding the previously scheduledWe have decided to cancel all symposium and coordinator meetings scheduled for February 27–28.We would like to inform you that...

 We sincerely apologize to all participants who have been eagerly awaiting this event. However, we have made this decision in order to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, and we kindly ask for your understanding.

 Kochi University will host a national symposium on Thursday, February 27, and Friday, February 28, 2020, as part of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) grant program “Regional Revitalization Promotion Project by Regional (Knowledge) Hub Universities (COC+).” The symposium aims to establish a nationwide network for the COC+ initiative.

 At this year’s symposium, Kazumasa Shichijo, editor-in-chief of the social and eco-magazine *Sotokoto*—which has pioneered various trends shaping society, such as “slow living,” “LOHAS,” “social,” and “local”—will deliver a keynote speech titled “Building a Connected Community: Finding Happiness in Regional Areas.”In addition, there will be a panel discussion on the theme of “Sustainable Local Communities from the Perspective of the ‘Relational Population,’” as well as case studies presented by COC+ implementing organizations.
