Center for Disaster Prevention Promotion: "What Information Is Needed for Preemptive Evacuation in the Event of a Disaster?"
Date:
As one of the measures to protect lives from natural disasters, "preemptive evacuation"—taking action before a disaster strikes—is a crucial strategy.
For this reason, the government issues various disaster warnings in advance—particularly regarding wind and flood disasters—to assist municipal mayors in issuing evacuation orders and to encourage residents to evacuate on their own initiative; however, there are many cases where this does not lead to prompt evacuation, which has become a problem.
To address these issues and explore how to evacuate residents using advance disaster information, we are organizing this symposium as a forum for discussion between disaster prevention researchers and practitioners in disaster management.
