◆Inspiration & Excitement in Science: Welcome to the University Lab! We are hosting a KAKENHI event titled “From Genes to Drugs: Let’s Learn How to Make Medicines Using Microorganisms!”

Date:

On July 23 and 24, 2022, Faculty of Agriculture and Marine Science will host “Inspiration & Excitement in Science: Welcome to the University Lab—KAKENHI Project: ‘From Genes to Drugs—Let’s Learn How to Make Medicines Using Microorganisms!’”

This program provides an introduction to the fundamentals of microbiology, as well as an explanation of naturally occurring compounds derived from microorganisms and their production and applications, from the perspectives of molecular biology and chemistry. Participants will also engage in hands-on learning by culturing bacteria found on their own bodies, experiencing firsthand how humans coexist with various microorganisms. Through a variety of experiments and lectures, participants will gain a deeper understanding of bacteria as producers of useful compounds and enhance their knowledge of the importance and applications of microorganisms. We encourage anyone interested to join us.
