Center for Disaster Prevention Promotion: "What Should We Do to Eliminate 'Delayed Evacuation'?"

Date:

Center for Disaster Prevention Promotion will host Center for Disaster Prevention Promotion titled “What Should We Do to Eliminate ‘Delayed Evacuation’?” in a hybrid format combining in-person and online participation.

Kochi Prefecture is an area with a very high risk of torrential rain disasters and a high need for tsunami evacuation in the event of an earthquake. To mitigate these risks during such disasters, a community-wide social system is necessary to facilitate early evacuation—one in which local authorities promptly disseminate evacuation information, and residents who receive this information recognize the risk of disaster, encourage one another to evacuate, and provide mutual evacuation support.

This symposium will explore how each individual can act to prevent delays in evacuation, focusing on the collaboration between local disaster culture, community activities during peacetime, and university expertise, and will present case studies to illustrate these points. We encourage anyone interested to attend.
