◆ We are hosting the 6th Sukumo Bay University Public Online Roundtable (Mini-Symposium): "Examining the Marine Debris Problem: Current Status and Mitigation Efforts"

Date:

As part of our university’s general education course “Environmental Studies of the Tosa Sea: Reflections on the Sea around Kashiwajima,” we are hosting an online roundtable discussion (mini-symposium) via Zoom, which is open to the public.

For this roundtable discussion, we have invited Yukino Kinjo, who runs the Manatee Project in Okinawa, to talk about an initiative in which tourists are lent trash bags for a fee and asked to collect marine debris.

In addition, a panel discussion will be held featuring Mr. Kaneshiro, Mr. Yu Kanda, Director of the Kuroshio Experience Center—which has been engaged in marine education and environmental conservation activities on Kashiwajima Island in Kochi Prefecture for many years—and Associate Professor Satoru Ishizutsu of the Department of Regional Collaborative Education in the School of Integrated Sciences. The discussion will explore the issue of marine debris and the conservation of the marine environment.

If you're interested, please feel free to join us.
