◆ (Advance registration required) The Future of Sewerage Systems from Kochi: We are hosting the 6th Symposium, “Sewerage Systems Connecting Kochi to a Decarbonized Society”

Date:

Since fiscal year 2017, Kochi University has been hosting a symposium in collaboration with Kochi Prefecture under the theme "The Future of Sewerage Systems: Insights from Kochi."

Japan has set a mid-term target for fiscal year 2030 to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 46% compared to fiscal year 2013, and intends to continue striving toward the ambitious goal of a 50% reduction. The sewerage sector is also expected to contribute to decarbonization efforts.

Kochi Prefecture has a proven track record of introducing various advanced technologies at the Takasu Purification Center, the Shimochi Water Recycling Center, and the sewage treatment plants in Susaki City and Konan City, with the aim of promoting the effective use of resources, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and conserving energy. We are hosting the 6th Symposium with the goal of widely introducing these advanced initiatives from Kochi Prefecture to sewerage professionals and local governments across Japan. At this symposium, we will feature presentations not only from experts within Kochi Prefecture but also from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, Kumamoto City, and external experts, providing an overview of initiatives aimed at decarbonizing Japan’s sewerage systems.
