◆ (Advance registration required) The Future of Sewerage Systems from Kochi: We are hosting the 7th Symposium, "Learning from the Kochi Family and Building Together: A Safe, Earthquake-Resilient Future for Sewerage Systems"

Date:

Since fiscal year 2017, Kochi University has been co-hosting a symposium with Kochi Prefecture on “The Future of Sewerage Systems: Insights from Kochi.”

The 7th session will focus on the theme “Learning from the Kochi Prefecture Model: Building a Safe, Earthquake-Resilient Future for Sewer Systems Together.” As a special guest speaker, we will welcome Mr. Masahiro Yoshizawa, Director of the Sewerage Division, Water Management and Land Conservation Bureau, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. He will deliver a lecture titled “Future Earthquake Countermeasures in Light of the Noto Peninsula Earthquake,” discussing the national government’s earthquake countermeasures for sewer systems. We will also invite representatives from local governments and organizations that have been instrumental in the recovery efforts following the Great East Japan Earthquake, the Kumamoto Earthquake, and the Noto Peninsula Earthquake to serve as guest speakers. Kochi Prefecture is projected to suffer extensive damage from the Nankai Trough Earthquake and the accompanying tsunami, and sewer facilities are no exception. Our aim is to provide an opportunity for local governments nationwide—not just those in Kochi Prefecture—to gain insights into earthquake preparedness. We sincerely hope you will join us.
