◆The 1st Shimanto Seaweed Eco-Innovation Co-creation Forum will be held.

The “Shimanto Seaweed Eco-Innovation Co-creation Hub,” jointly proposed by Kochi University as the lead institution, along with academic institutions such as Kyoto University, companies including RIKEN Foods Co., Ltd., Shimanto City, and Kochi Prefecture, has been selected for the Regional Co-creation Category (Development Type) of the FY2024 “Co-creation Space Formation Support Program (COI-NEXT)” administered by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST).
With the vision of “creating sustainable regional industries and communities through seaweed-based innovation,” this project will be based in Shimanto City, where it will carry out environmental conservation activities, business creation, and human resource development. Additionally, a consortium will be formed to serve as a platform for the participation of numerous companies and researchers in the project, and forums will be held to disseminate the research and results.
