◆Japan-Taiwan University Regional Collaboration and Social Practice Summit and International Research Meeting in Kochi ~ "Cutting-edge research and regional practices on 'regional revitalization' in Taiwan gather in Kochi!" ~
Date:
Kochi University will host a summit meeting and international symposium organized by the Japan-Taiwan Alliance for Regional University Collaboration and Social Practice (Japan-Taiwan Alliance) in Kochi City on Thursday, September 4, 2025.
This event is an international initiative in which six universities from Taiwan and four from Japan collaborate to promote academic exchange and social practice related to regional revitalization. This event marks the first time it has been held in Japan, made possible by Kochi University assuming the role of chairing institution of the Japan-Taiwan Alliance in September 2024. More than 150 participants, including representatives from the six Taiwanese and four Japanese member universities, will gather in Kochi to present the latest research findings and practical case studies on themes such as regional revitalization, disaster prevention, and cultural initiatives.
This is a valuable opportunity to consider the future of regional revitalization within an international framework where Japanese and Taiwanese universities collaborate to address regional challenges. We encourage anyone interested in community development, international collaboration, or exchanges with Taiwan to join us.

About the Japan-Taiwan University Regional Partnership and Social Practice Alliance (TJA)
In November 2021, four Japanese universities (Kochi University, Shinshu University, Chiba University, and Ryukoku University) and six Taiwanese universities (National Chi Nan University, National Taiwan Ocean University, National Cheng Kung University, National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology, National Sun Yat-sen University, and Tunghai University) launched the “Japan-Taiwan University Regional Partnership and Social Practice Alliance,” a new platform for academic exchange, educational collaboration, and industrial promotion centered on the theme of “regional revitalization.”Since September 2024, Kochi University has served as the chair institution.
Taking into account the social and economic contexts of Japan and Taiwan, we are working to: (1) foster talent for global regional revitalization through student exchanges; (2) promote regional industrial development through academic exchanges; and (3) advance mutual understanding between Japan and Taiwan through information dissemination—all through mutual exchanges among the 10 member universities.
