◆ (Advance registration required) The 8th Symposium on the Future of Sewerage Systems from Kochi: "Creating a Visible Future for Invisible Infrastructure from Kochi" will be held.
Date:
Since fiscal year 2017, our university has been hosting a symposium on “The Future of Sewerage Systems: Insights from Kochi” in collaboration with Kochi Prefecture and Kochi City.
The 8th session will be held under the theme “Envisioning the Future of Invisible Infrastructure from Kochi.” As a special guest speaker, we are honored to welcome Mr. Hiroki Yamagata, Director of the Project Management Promotion Office, Sewerage Projects Division, Water Management and Land Conservation Bureau, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. He will deliver a lecture titled “Recent Trends in Sewerage Administration (Aging Infrastructure and Regional Collaboration),” discussing the national government’s approach to addressing aging sewer infrastructure and fostering regional collaboration. In addition, we will invite speakers from local governments, organizations, and researchers who are leading innovative initiatives in the digital transformation of sewerage projects, the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, and sewerage public relations to deliver presentations.
Sewage systems are an invisible infrastructure that operates behind the scenes, often going unnoticed in our daily lives. We believe that by modernizing these systems, we can create infrastructure that contributes to carbon neutrality and supports a sustainable lifestyle that ensures greater safety and peace of mind for people than ever before. It is also important to raise public awareness of the role that sewage systems play. Our goal is to provide a model that can serve as a reference not only for Kochi Prefecture but for local governments across the country, so we encourage you to participate.
