◆Announcement of the Kochi Society for Humanities and Social Sciences' 2025 Public Symposium

 The Kochi Society for Humanities and Social Sciences, which is primarily organized by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Kochi University, will hold its 2025 Public Symposium according to the following guidelines.

 This year’s theme is “10 Years of Excavations at the Asakura Castle Site: Achievements and Prospects.” Located west of Kochi University, Asakura Castle Hill is home to a mountain fortress from the Warring States period. The Asakura Castle site is designated as a Kochi Prefectural Historic Site. The Asakura Castle site is associated with the Motoyama and Chosokabe clans, who played a significant role in the history of Tosa during the Warring States period.FateYukariAlthough the site is known for its castle, Kochi University has been conducting annual excavations there since fiscal year 2015, and last year marked the completion of the 10th survey. This symposium aims to summarize the results of a decade of research and excavation and to chart a course for future endeavors. To this end, we have invited Professor Ryo Okadera (Ritsumeikan University), a researcher specializing in medieval mountain castles,Mr. Tsuyoshi Takayama (Matsuno Town Board of Education, Ehime Prefecture), who is engaged in the investigation and research of medieval mountain castles in a neighboring prefecture, and Mr. Dai Fujikawa (Cultural Exchange Promotion Division, Citizen Life Department, Naruto City, Tokushima Prefecture). We will discuss various themes related to the Asakura Castle ruins.
