We are pleased to announce the results of the 57th Muroto Kanhō

Release Date:

 This event was initiated by the Kochi University Karate Club to foster the physical and mental discipline of its members. It is a grueling challenge that involves walking approximately 90 km from Asakura in Kochi City to Cape Muroto through the night.
It is held every year over a Saturday and Sunday from late November to early December.This year marked the 57th edition, held from Saturday, November 25, to Sunday, November 26.
Participants included not only members of the Karate Club but also students, faculty and staff, international students, alumni, students from other universities, and members of the general public.
The walk starts at 9:00 a.m., and participants must reach the destination by 3:00 p.m. the following day or they are disqualified; this year, approximately 60% of participants successfully completed the walk.

Dates:
November 25 (Sat) – November 26 (Sun), 2017

Location:
Kochi University Asakura Campus (Registration begins at 7:30 a.m.; departure at 9:00 a.m.)

Applicants:
481 (including 434 on-site registrants and 276 finishers, 64%)
(*Previous year’s results: 257 finishers, 57%)

Route:
Take National Route 33 and then Route 55 toward Cape Muroto.

Karate Club Comments
Thank you for participating in the Muroto Kanpo Walk again this year.
Although it rained at times, the weather was relatively mild over the two days, and more than half of the participants successfully completed the walk. To everyone who participated, thank you very much for your hard work.
 We hope this event will remain a fond memory for everyone, whether you successfully completed the walk or had to withdraw partway through.
We are able to hold this event thanks to the cooperation of so many people. Thank you very much.
