A research group led by Lecturer Yuichiro Hattori and Assistant Professor Ayato Hakamada of the Department of Education in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences has received the "Society Encouragement Award."

At the 49th Annual Conference of the Japan Society for Mathematics Education, held on Saturday, February 9, and Sunday, February 10, 2019, at the Graduate School of Education, Hiroshima University (Higashi-Hiroshima Campus), a research group led by Lecturer Yuichiro Hattori and Assistant Professor Ayato Hakamada from the Department of Education in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences received the “Society Encouragement Award.”
This award is presented to young researchers who have conducted outstanding research in this field and are expected to contribute to its future development, with the aim of encouraging and promoting research in mathematics education.
The title of the paper that received the award is “Development of Mathematics Lessons to Foster Critical Thinking Using Problems from Combinatorics as Teaching Materials: Through a High School Mathematics Lesson Practice on ‘Match Scheduling for League Competitions.’”
