Release Date:
On March 2, 2019, we held the "FY2018 Kochi CST (Core Science Teacher) Certification Ceremony."
Kochi University and the Kochi Prefectural Board of Education have been training and developing Kochi CSTs (Core Science Teachers) since fiscal year 2010. These teachers play a central role in science education in Kochi Prefecture, with the aim of fostering students who enjoy science.
In fiscal year 2018, six new CSTs were certified (two at the beginner level [graduate students] and four at the intermediate level [currently serving teachers]), bringing the total number of CSTs produced to date to 94. Furthermore, under the promotion system launched this fiscal year, 15 previously certified beginner-level CSTs were promoted to intermediate-level CSTs based on their subsequent performance.
On the day of the event, Kazuo Okuda, Executive Director of Education and International Affairs at Kochi University and Chair of the Kochi CST Training and Development Project Steering Committee, presented certificates of certification to five program graduates and three promoted CSTs.
Following Executive Director Okuda’s remarks, congratulatory messages and words of encouragement were delivered by representatives from the Kochi Prefectural Board of Education and senior CSTs. A representative of the program graduates then delivered a powerful speech expressing gratitude to all involved and outlining their aspirations for future CST activities.
