A signing ceremony for the partnership agreement with Yusuhara Town was held.

 A signing ceremony for a partnership agreement between Kochi University and Yusuhara Town, Kochi Prefecture, was held on Friday, May 10, at the Kumo-no-Ue Library in Yusuhara Town.Approximately 15 representatives from both parties attended the ceremony, including President Sakurai and Executive Director Uchida (in charge of Regional Affairs, International Relations, Public Relations, and IR) from Kochi University, and Mayor Yoshida and Deputy Mayor Nishimura from Yusuhara Town. President Sakurai and Mayor Yoshida signed the agreement, formalizing the partnership.
 Kochi University and Yusuhara Town have previously deepened their collaboration through lifelong learning initiatives, primarily centered on outreach public lectures. With the signing of this cooperation agreement, the two parties aim to utilize the university’s unique expertise to mutually advance sustainable “Yusuhara development” through the formulation of Yusuhara Town’s Comprehensive Promotion Plan, enhancing the appeal of Yusuhara High School, and creating diverse learning environments.
 Additionally, the Kochi University Center for Next-Generation Regional Creation will accept one Yusuhara Town employee as a “Local Government Collaboration Coordinator.”
 At the signing ceremony, President Sakurai stated, “I am confident that we can contribute to the development of Yusuhara Town by utilizing the unique expertise of the university,” while Mayor Yoshida remarked, “We intend to utilize the wisdom of Kochi University to aim for the sustainable development of Yusuhara and work toward creating a town where residents can live peacefully.We expect the Local Government Collaboration Coordinator to serve as a bridge between Kochi University and Yusuhara Town.”
For Kochi University, Yusuhara Town is the 15th local government partner within the prefecture, and this marks the third time the university has accepted a staff member from a local government.
