Professor Hiromi Seo of our university’s School of Medicine presented on the selection policies and methods of the AO admissions program—which our university has implemented since the 2003 academic year—at the symposium titled “Reflecting on Medical School Admissions: What Should the Selection Process Look Like?!” held on July 26 in Kyoto as part of the 51st Annual Meeting of the Japanese Association for Medical Education. She reported that students admitted through the AO entrance exam have received favorable evaluations after enrollment, and that they also boast high rates of graduating on their first attempt and passing the National Medical Licensing Examination, as well as favorable results in 360-degree evaluations during postgraduate training.
Professor Seo’s presentation was met with a strong response from the audience, and we even received inquiries from university officials who are considering introducing AO admissions.
