● Regarding the Bomb Threat Against Kochi University and the Subsequent Response

Kochi University received a threat stating, “We will blow up the main buildings of Kochi University at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7.” With the cooperation of the police, we conducted checks for suspicious objects within the facilities, maintained vigilance against suspicious individuals, and patrolled the surrounding area; however, there were no incidents such as explosions at the time specified in the threat.
The university considers the safety of students, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders to be our top priority. While access to all campuses was restricted from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Friday, August 7, these restrictions were lifted as of 5:00 PM today.
We will continue to remain vigilant and not let our guard down, but if you spot any suspicious objects or individuals on campus, please notify the nearest security office immediately or contact us at the number below.
