◆A research proposal submitted by Lecturer Daisuke Kozaki of the Interdisciplinary Sciences Division, Department of Interdisciplinary Sciences, has been selected for the A-STEP program of the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST).

 We are pleased to announce that Lecturer Daisuke Kozaki of the Division of Interdisciplinary Sciences in the Department of Integrated Sciences has been selected for the FY2020 call for new proposals under the “Research Results Deployment Program: Program for Optimal Deployment of Research Results (A-STEP) Trial” conducted by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST). His proposed project, titled “Development of a Simple Mercury Measurement Kit Using a Fully Enclosed Cell Mercury Vaporization Method,” has been approved.

 A-STEP is a technology transfer support program aimed at returning research outcomes to society by commercializing scientific and technological achievements developed at universities and public research institutions as technologies of national economic importance. For this call for proposals, 832 applications were received from across the country. An evaluation committee composed of external experts reviewed the submissions based on criteria such as the novelty and competitiveness of the technological seeds, their innovative impact, R&D objectives, and R&D plans, resulting in the selection of 259 projects for support.

 Professor Kozaki plans to conduct research on this project from November 2020 through the end of the 2021 academic year.
