◆Tsugumi Sakurai, the women’s wrestling gold medalist at the Paris Olympics, visited our school

On Tuesday, February 25, 2025, Tsugumi Sakurai, who competed as a member of the Japanese women’s wrestling team at the 2024 Paris Olympics and won a gold medal, visited our university.
櫻井選手は春から本学の大学院スポーツ・芸術文化共創専攻に進学が決まっており、ご家族と一緒に本学を訪れ、受田学長や専攻の教員と懇談されました。
４月からは主な拠点を高知に移し、引き続き選手として練習を重ねながら指導者としてもスポーツとの関わり方を学び、地域の方や子どもたちにレスリングやスポーツの楽しさを伝えていきたい、と今後の抱負を聞かせてくださいました。また「大学院に進学することを想像以上に沢山の方が喜んでくれて、その期待に恥じぬよう精いっぱい励みたいと思います」と力強いコメントをいただきました。
In response, President Uchida offered his encouragement, saying, “I hope you’ll enjoy campus life to the fullest while studying regional affairs and sports in this diverse program. I look forward to seeing what you accomplish in the future.”
